Rides and Meetings
The following is a guide to riding with BMBC. The best way to know what rides are going on is to check the ride forum, although the committee will try to send out regular e-mail shots to keep you up to speed.
Note that in order to ride with the club, you must pay your £5 subscription to become a full member. However, new riders may join us for up to five rides to try before you buy.
Weekly ride schedule
First time riders should post on the forum so we know you are coming. For the rest of us, there's no need to sign up on the forum before coming on these rides. It's the same plan each week, so just turn up, and there should be somebody else to ride with. Depending on the numbers that turn up, we may split into 2 or more groups, but aim to meet up at the end afterwards.
Sunday Local Ride
Meet at the Golf Kiosk at Ashton Court at 10:30 for a ride around Ashton Court and Leigh Woods. The exact route, duration and pace is tailored to suit the needs of those that turn up, but the ride generally lasts about 2 hours. It's ideal for beginners or those wanting to learn their way around the maze of singletrack. Experienced riders who just have time for a half-day ride are welcome too. Bring money for a cuppa and some cake after the ride. New riders let us know you are coming here.
Wednesday Evening Ride
Meet at the North Road entrance to Leigh Woods at 18:15 for an 18:30 start. Route and pace tend to be a bit longer than Sundays, but we don't leave people behind. In the summer, we try to get a drink in at the pub afterwards, bring lights if you need to ride home in the dark. It's a night ride anyway for about 6 months of the year. New riders let us know you are coming here.
1st Sunday of the Month
The club will organise an away ride on the 1st Sunday of the Month. The venue is decided at the social meeting before it, and is posted on the forum the next day for people to sign up. The 10:30 weekly local ride sets off as usual for those who want it.
3rd Sunday of the Month
This is reserved for a slightly longer local ride that goes a bit further afield than normal. We start these at 09:30 at the Golf Kiosk at Ashton Court and ride for about 3 hours, although the record is about 6. Please sign up on the forum so we know you're coming.
Any club member who wishes to arrange a ride may post it on the forum so that others can join in. There's normally at least one ride to go to each weekend.
Multi-day Ride Trips
These are organised from time to time. Check the forum and email bulletins. Trips from the recent past have included Lake District, North Wales, Scotland, Morzine, Chamonix, Les Arcs.
We are in the process of putting together a calendar of races and competitions. Post any events in the events forum.
